Hopefully, Romeo Crennel will work out too. He can't be worse than Butch Davis. He can't be worse than Bill Belichick was. 8^)

Everybody always gets this wrong. Rush wasn't slamming McNabb - he was slamming the MEDIA for not reporting accurately about McNabb. "McNabb sucks and you liberal meda types refuse to say it". That's a pretty good summary of what he said - and it was a direct attack both on McNabb and the sportsmedia, and it came with an accusation that the media had built up McNabb because he was black and they wanted a black man to succeed. Limbaugh essentially put McNabb on the level of the likes of Trent Dilfer and Quincy Carter in terms of talent if not below them, and went with the old blacks are too dumb to be good QB's line of argument.

Hopefully, Romeo Crennel will work out too. He can't be worse than Butch Davis. Yes he could. He could be on the level of Ray Rhodes or Dave Campo, another defensive coordinator genius and terrible head coach and really drive the club into the ground. Wait and see.

Also consider that if the Eagles played in the AFC, they'd be lucky to get a wild card slot in any of the divisions. Huh? They played the Patriots closer than any other divisional opponent or playoff opponent this year, yet they couldn't even make the playoffs in the AFC?
Why can't you admit that they are the #2 team in football right now? They certainly have the record to show it under the leadership of Reid, Johnson, Childress, Harbaugh, McNabb, and Dawkins.

Why can't you admit that they are the #2 team in football right now?Why should I? Because they are the best that the NFC can offer? They are NOT better than the Steelers, for example. Sorry, second place is just the first loser.

Maybe he'll play better next week. ;)

Let's see. 30-51, 357 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT, sacked 4 times for a loss of 33 yards, and a rating of 75.4 in the Super Bowl (throw in 1 rush for no yards for good measure). I don't call that a "good" game.

Well, you gave what you call a 'summary' of what he said. How about we look at the actual transcript:
Rush Limbaugh: Ive listened to all you guys, actually, and I think the sum total of what youre all saying is, Donovan McNabb is regressing, hes going backwards. And my, Im sorry to say this, I dont think hes been that good from the get-go. I think what weve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well
Tom Jackson: Mm-hmm
Limbaugh:
for instance, black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there is a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he really didnt deserve
[crosstalk] the defense carried this team, I think, and he got credit for it.
Jackson: But Rush, somebody went to those [NFC] championship games
Limbaugh: Oh, they went
Jackson:
somebody went to those Pro Bowls, somebody made those plays that I saw, running down the field, doing it with his legs, doing it with his arm. He had been a very effective quarterback for this football team over the last two or three years [crosstalk], different than what we see right -- and they didnt have any talent then than they have now.
Limbaugh: On defense, on defense they did. [crosstalk]
Jackson: Well, on defense they did, but Im talking about the offensive side of the ball.
Limbaugh: But thats what Im saying: I think he got a lot of credit for the defensive side of the ball winning games for this team.
Steve Young: But Ill tell you what, Ill say it even more strongly, Tom: When theyre [the Philadelphia Eagles] winning, nobody makes more plays
Jackson: Than Donovan McNabb.
Young:
with his feet and with his arm than Donovan McNabb. That guy is really one of the best in the league at making plays. But making plays does not win championships. Running the offense does, so at some point I think that if Coy Detmer looks like a better option [crosstalk] because hell go in there, drop back and throw the ball correctly.
Chris Berman: Isnt it odd that last year, with the broken leg, I know it was Arizona, but that one game he was in the [pocket] he looked great. [crosstalk]
Young: He had to run that offense.
Jackson: So Rush, once you make that investment, though, once you make that investment in him, thats a done deal.
Limbaugh: Im saying its a good investment, dont misunderstand, I just dont think hes as good as everyone said he has been
[crosstalk]
Michael Irvin: Rush has a point
Rush has a point. ***
To: Al Simmons
Rush said the press overrates black quarterbacks like McNabb.
It'll be tough for ESPN critics and others in the sports media to swallow, but Rush was right.

Funny you said that. I was just asking a friend of mine about how many Pats players will follow Romeo to Cleveland in the next few years.

"Everybody always gets this wrong. Rush wasn't slamming McNabb - he was slamming the MEDIA for not reporting accurately about McNabb."ESPN, Chris Berman, Tom Jackson and the REST of the sports world knew what they were getting with Rush -- a provocateur from political world who was going to challenge uncharted PC thought-police waters.
If only Rush knew those waters were chummed with blood from the get-go.

"Beating A Dead Horse Department"Is it?
Had McNabb led the Eagles to this Super Bowl, tell me how many stories wouldn't have been about Donavan "vindicating" himself against Rush Limbaugh.
To: freedom7
ESPN knew full well what they were getting when they signed Rush. His use of the First Amendment is, or was, guarenteed. He told the truth about the media and they didn't like what they heard. If Tom Jackson or Michael Irvin had truly been offended at the time, something whould have been done about it then and there. Instead, they, ESPN, and the court of public opinion got rid of Rush. Sometimes the truth bites. We've had McNabb and his soup-selling mother thrown up to us for the last three years. And he hasn't even won a Super Bowl. Tom Brady has, three times. Now let him and the Patriots have their time in the sun. And I'm not even a Patriots or Eagles fan.

Actually, the big problem this year at the Super Bowl was this:
why did the Eagles' coaching staff suddenly become clueless at the last half of the fourth quarter when it came to clock management?
If the Eagles had bothered to do a decent no-huddle offense they could have scored an additional 7-10 points, which would have won them the game.
To: RayChuang88
Yeah, they did screw up big time with the clock. But you have to admit, it's tough to win any game when you throw 3 interceptions.
