Did you guys catch that? I like the song, but thought that the context was demeaning considering the "theme" of the pregame is a salute to veterans and serving members of the armed forces. That song has a meaning them and now. And with the purposeful ending over and over. What a jerk!
That's EXACTLY what it was, and still is.
"There's nothing more pathetic than an ageing hipster..."
- Dr. Evil.
yep
yep
you know it
Yes and called PROJECT Fortunate Son. SOBs
It was definitely wrong time, wrong place.....especially since we no longer have the draft....
And he sounded terrible....old song, old voice
They should have Ted Nugent singing "Damn Yankees." It sounds disrepectful, but it actually talks about yankee pride...as yankee go home blather. "If you need assistance, help is on the way...we don't need no thank you man, we know what you're gonna say- damn, damn, damn yankees!" How appropriate. We send our brave men and woman to bail out your (sorry, weak, helpless) country, and we are still damn yankees.
IIRC you are correct.
Isn't it called "Fortunate Son"? (I didn't hear it - just guessing.)
If this was it, it's "Fortunate Son":
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, theyre red, white and blue.
And when the band plays hail to the chief,
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, lord,
It aint me, it aint me, I aint no senators son, son.
It aint me, it aint me; I aint no fortunate one, no,
Yeah!
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, dont they help themselves, oh.
But when the taxman comes to the door,
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes,
It aint me, it aint me, I aint no millionaires son, no.
It aint me, it aint me; I aint no fortunate one, no.
Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Ooh, they send you down to war, lord,
And when you ask them, how much should we give?
Ooh, they only answer more! more! more! yoh,
It aint me, it aint me, I aint no military son, son.
It aint me, it aint me; I aint no fortunate one, one.
It aint me, it aint me, I aint no fortunate one, no no no,
It aint me, it aint me, I aint no fortunate son, no no no,
But the good news is that John Kerry was really the reincarnation of Chief Illiniwek. Except that Chief Illinwek didn't do his own paperwork.
Fighting soldiers from the sky
Fearless men who jump and die
Men who mean just what they say
The brave men of the Green Beret
Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret
Trained to live off nature's land
Trained in combat, hand-to-hand
Men who fight by night and day
Courage peak from the Green Berets
Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret
Back at home a young wife waits
Her Green Beret has met his fate
He has died for those oppressed
Leaving her his last request
Put silver wings on my son's chest
Make him one of America's best
He'll be a man they'll test one day
Have him win the Green Beret.
Sorry all I put the song Fortunate Son in the second box, but rarely post so did not know it wouldn't show. That is the song and it was wrong. Fox is getting a call.
Thanks....just had to have a tribute song to wipe out the other.
Go get 'em.
Definitely wrong. They'll be hearing about it.........
