The buzz in Minnesota is that he is thinking of becoming a part owner (< 3%) in a new deal to buy the Vikings.
I thought he was already retired. I guess that shows how much attention I have given the NFL in the past couple of years.
Thanks for the memories #22, see you in Canton.
My day just became very sad.... but at least Dallas will get him one more time....
sniff... sniff....
Jerry Jones, that miserable Clinton-loving owner of the Dallas Cowboys, should NEVER have traded Emmett Smith. He should have allowed him to retire gracefully. Hopefully, he will allow that now.
I'm a dyed in the wool Cowboy fan, having grown up decorating the old practice field on Forest Lane when the likes of Staubach, et al, played. I remain eternally committed to Tom Landry, the essence of what Dallas once stood for -- America's Team, the greatness of dignity and determination and diligence.
Sadly, Jerry Jones and his ilk are a sad replacement. We Dallas fans can NEVER forgive Jones for firing Landry in the press before telling him in person. Quite frankly, we cannot abide his firing of Landry at all.
Jerry Jones is a sniveling SOB. He has ruined my Cowboys. I remain a Cowboys fan but I am loathe to praise Jones in any way whatsoever. I remian loyal to the Landry Era. I will NEVER buy into the Jones idiocy.
Emmett Smith is a fantastic running back who is an honor to the Cowboy name. He was "disinherited" by Jones -- just another example of Jones' desire to put himself above the honor of the past.
God bless you, Emmett Smith - you are a Cowboy in ever sense of the word.
I attended the U FL homecoming game against Alabama in 1987, where this electrifying little freshman guy wowed the crowd. He still holds the UF freshman record with 224 Rushing Yards in that game. We all knew we were watching a football genius who would go far in the game.
Thanks for the memories Emmitt. Here's to seeing you in the Hall of Fame. Preferably in your first year of eligibility...
