Technically, you are probably right - though I was referring to those that still existed when there came into being such a thing as an "SUV". Interestingly, I used to have a '68 Wagoneer, and I had the original manual, which referred to it as a "station wagon." That cracked me up - a "station wagon," all three tons of it.

That probably had more to do with bureaucracy than reality. License plates for a "station wagon" cost a lot less than for a 3 ton truck with an integrated camper shell.
