My beloved father bought a used 1964 Renault for $500 from a cousin. It's lucky for the cousins that they retired and moved to Germany shortly afterwards. We could have put handle bars and 4 small bicycle tires on our Maytag washing machine and it would have made a better car than that Renault. It died real soon, which was a blessing for my family.
My very first car was a 1952 Plymouth. It had only 35,000 miles when I purchased it in 1964. I sold it for $200 two years later. I wish I still had it.
