Brad Pitt is set to play gunslinger Jesse James in a western.
Variety reports Andrew Dominik will direct the movie, which is based on Robert Hansen's novel 'The Assassination of Jesse James.'
Hansen recreates the real West with his imaginative telling of the life of the most famous outlaw of all time, and his supposed death at the hands of the upstart Robert Ford.
James holds sway over a ragged gang who fear his quick shooting and temper.
Robert Ford, a young gang member torn between worshipping Jesse and taking his place, guns him down in cold blood and lives out his days tormented by the killing.
The book was picked up last year as a co-production between Scott Free, Academy Award winging partners Ridley and Tony Scott and the Brad Grey, Aniston/Pitt owned Plan B. However, there are matters to be resolved with Gray joining Paramount and Pitt seperating from his wife Jennifer Aniston.

Har Har Har....another hollyweird movie I won't have to go to.
No way is that guy going to be believable as Jesse James-not rugged enough.
Well isn't that precious.
So9
If he pointed a gun at me, frankly, I'd lose it.
LOL
Yeah I think I know how you feel.
That Jesse has to worry about keeping Sandra Bullock in line..
As bad as I hate to say it he might not be as good as Colin Farrel as Jesse James.
Leo DiCaprio would be perfect, but even Ridley Scott can't command him on a moments notice. (unless it was the old studio system)
Rugged? Short, kind of sickly guy. Tough as a boot, obviously, but Cole Younger was the one with the movie-star looks.
You're welcome.
And people are wondering why Jennifer Aniston got rid of him..
So maybe Clint Howard would be a better choice for the role?
YUM! He was pretty rough looking in Fight Club and Legends of the Fall.
WOW! I know what Clint Howard looks like, and I was prepared to see his picture when I clicked on your link, but AAAAAAHHHH!
Yeah unlike the Helen Thomas pic posters, I decided to spare everyone. And that wasn't even the worst one that showed up on a Google image search.
