You can't just pretend PCs are better computers. ;)
Oh, I'm not. I stopped buying PCs once Windows 95 reared its ugly head and have purchased Macs exclusively since. Although I like most of what I see of Windows XP Pro.
But in purchasing a computer for a charity organization I'm with I had to be very frugal. It wasn't my money, for one and there was a limited amount of funds available. No one will ever play video games on this computer so our needs were really basic.
So for the money that we had the Dell was a great buy. I spent days searching through online catalogs before I concluded that Dell had the best deal.
Interesting! With a charity I would asked for a donation from a local business or computer store. Our church gets several 2-3 year old PCs a year without even asking. Generally, the kiddies want to play all the new games, or mom and dad open one too many e-mail bombs or spyware apps so naturally (?), "that old machine was slow so we got a new one."
Just a thought, for what it's worth. Now raffle that new Dell... ;)
