Not true. A lot of viruses launch from the registry and booting to a floppy will not get around the problem.

That's true if you make an emergency disk for windows. In this case I would use a boot disk made for linux just to ensure it wasn't a hardware prblem. Norton rescue disks should help if there isn't a hardware problem.
