It could be a case of the computer running hot, and shuts down automatically to protect itself.

Usually when the computer runs hot, it doesn't start shuting down until it's been on a while.

They recently added Cable to it....and one day he tells me that he couldn't even shut it down because a message said that someone was using it....so that's when I asked him if he had a firewall and asked me what that was....so CABLE and NO FIREWALL.....someone took it over. He had to pull the plug to shut it down.....I think it started there?
