It really doesn't matter. So they don't buy that pair of jeans one day, they just wait until the next to buy them. It is like those no gas days, what really matters is everyone is still consuming gas so they have to buy it sometime. It doesn't make a dimes worth of difference if they buy it the day before or the day after.

Dom G on WPHT (1210 AM, Philadelphia) did an hour on this last night.  He'd hoped to get to $10,000 in spend that people specifically spent money today.  When the first caller admitted to buying a truck early, that was off  the board.

I'm sure the Goodwill stores and other second-hand stores felt the pinch yesterday.....

I didn't spend a dime, but I did close on 57 acre hunk of real estate yesterday. Sign my name on the dotted line right after watching the inauguration on TV. Interest rates still at historic low levels.

My 15-year-old Daughter said many kids participated in this yesterday at school. She was very irritated with them because the kids that participated just did not/would not spend THEIR dime; they kept begging money from my daughter and others for lunch etc. She just looked at them and said “not my damn dime!”

I spent some money at the PX. Wonder if that counts?

Liberals boycotting spending for a day? I'll bet it's not even a blip on the economic screen. I'd be curious to see the comparitive numbers...

Were they allowed to use their food stamps that day?

The only reason I didn't spend more money that day was that it was the day BEFORE payday and I didn't have a lot to spend.
