I can't get my really old desktop to work any more. I bought it almost 6 years ago. It was upgraded about 4 years ago. It won't recognize the mouse or the monitor... and it had windows 98 OS. I can do most everything I need with my laptop. It sure would be nice to work on pictures with a big screen though.

Most laptops have VideoOut and KeyboardIn connectors. You can hook up a large monitor and a conventional keyboard. Close the top on the laptop, and you can pretend you are using a full sized machine. For you that might be a better option (more cost effective) than upgrading your desktop system.
