I'm a little confused however. We in Patriot nation were told by a lot of folks that the Pats had no prayer against the greatest team in NFL history the Indianapolis Colts. I guess they forget to tell the Patriot players that.

Just like we in Steeler country were told in October that the Steelers could never beat the Pats.

I think Ben will have a better game this week than last. I should point out that the Steelers win even when Ben has a bad game. That should tell the opposition something.

The Stillers beat the crap out of the Pats last time and they can do it again.

I can see why your so confused. You should not listen to a moron that would say those things.

Why are you so gullible? ;)

Is your name Simmons.

He writes stupid stuff too, only the Globe.

As I recall the Steelers were the upset special of that week.

True and the Pats can play a much better game and beat the Steelers as well.

Oh I was very confident of a Patriot victory on Sunday. I love the fact that all of the folks especially on ESPN who picked Indy are apologizing for not seeing why the Pats were going to win. The Sharpe brothers have really let the Colts have it.

As a Steeler fan let me congratulate you on your team's slaughter, total dismantlement of the Colts. I watched every play of that game, and I thought I was watching the Steelers playing. It was a methodical *ss-kicking!

This weekend should be unbelievable.Belichick said it best yesterday (paraphrase),"We beat on the Colts. Unfortunately the Steelers beat on you back."

Thought you might want to see this from the P.G.:

With snow due Sunday, Big Ben plans to drop the gloves against New England --

There was nothing between quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the football yesterday.

The rookie stripped down to his bare hands at practice and said the most famous glove in Pittsburgh since Roberto Clemente patrolled right field for the Pirates might disappear Sunday as well.

"I'm going to try to go this week without it," Roethlisberger said, "because it supposedly might snow this weekend. If it's wet, it makes it worse. We'll see if we can go without this week."

Apparently WTAE had their camera at that exact event. I saw Ben say this tonight and I did a BIG "Whew!"

Then I said (redacting): "Throw them f****ng things in the Mon. Sheesh!"

Just another tidbit:

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette -- "Tedy Bruschi stands large and menacing on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week in full Patriots helmet and uniform, hands on his hips and the word DEFENSE stenciled across his chest."

Could this put into action the old 'Sports Illustrated Curse' against the Pats?

;-)

Brewski has a very different meaning in Pittsburgh: (n) a beverage served during the devouring of offensive lines.

a little more from the trib:

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- A typically subdued Bill Belichick sprang to life for a good 45 seconds during his news conference Wednesday at Gillette Stadium.

Some said it was the most animated they'd seen him in weeks.

It happened when somebody asked Belichick, the New England Patriots' super successful head coach, whether his defense could possibly play better than it did in a 20-3 victory over the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday.

If not, the questioner wondered, would Belichick simply tell his players that a repeat performance would suffice against the Steelers in the AFC Championship?

"If we play like we did against the Colts, we'll get killed," Belichick said. "We'll get killed. It'll be a lot worse than whatever it was out there the last time (a 34-20 Steelers victory on Oct. 31), because Pittsburgh is not the Colts. The Colts are not Pittsburgh. You're talking about two totally different teams.

"Things we did against the Colts, if we tried to do them against the Steelers, it'd be 55 to nothin' -- maybe worse -- and that might (only) be if they kneel on the ball like they did at the end of the game last time."

The Steelers would have done the same thing to Indy if they had played them. The Colts need to learn that football is in fact a contact sport. I wonder what rules they're looking at changing for next year?!

As for this Sunday it should be a great game. It's probably going to come down to a special teams or defensive play that tips the balance. Answer me this though, will Cowher want to stay heavy on the run early or will he let Big Ben throw early to try and loosen the Pats defense up?

You know what, I've been seriously observing this game (football) for five decades. I do not know the answer to that question, and, for the Steelers' chances of winning, aren't you glad that the answer to that question is NOT out here on this site right now!!!??

Let's just say.............. most of the flow of the game will be controlled by ...................

Yoi, double yoi!!!

Maybe just for a surprise the Steelers will come out in the run and shoot formation.

I don't mind going downtown on first down, but when it fails three times in a row, it is very frustrating. Thankfully, Ben won't be wearing mittens this week.

Thankfully, Ben won't be wearing mittens this week.

I think that he might wear them now. He has said that he was practicing without them all week because he thought it might be "wet" this Sunday. He says with gloves, throwing the ball gets tougher in the "wet". and snow. Now the weather forecast is indicating that all the snow will be well past (finished) by mid-day Sunday, so it should be "dry" out there on the field.

So, he might just put those damn gloves back on because he likes them when it's dry and cold. He says that the ball gets hard and very slippery in the cold weather, and that he can grip the hard slippery ball better in the cold (and dry) weather. It's going to be around 16 degrees, so we'll see. Personally, I'm sick of all this gloves talk.

I think the Steelers and Ben will be just fine.
