BTTT & BUMP are used to make a thread show up at the top of the list of most recent posts

btt = bump to the top

bump is to post on a thread to raise it higher in the queue of posts

ping probably derives from sonar bouncing a signal through the water in an effort to get a response signal, in a thread it's normally used to send a message to others on a distribution list

With respect to BTTT = back to the top, I don't quite understand. When I'm viewing the forum, posts don't go to the top after they have been replied to. They remain in chronological order by the time when the topic was posted.

Is there some option I need to select to view posts by the last time they were replied to, as opposed to when the topic was posted?

When looking at the thread list page in the top right corner under the divider line you will see to commands Threads and Messages. Click on Messages to view most recent posts.
