The Koror Tribe: Caryn, Coby, Gregg, Ian, Janu, Jennifer, Katie, Tom, Willard

The Ulong Tribe: Angie, Bobby Jon, Ibrehem, James, Kim, Stephenie

The Losers: Ashlee, Jeff, Jolanda, Jonathan, Wanda

Koror, manages to avoid Tribal Council yet again.

Ulong returns from Tribal Council. Kim, and Jeff are in the shelter complaining about Jeff Probst making them admit that they were attracted to each other. Kim says “the whole snuggling thing has been blown out of proportion.” Meanwhile, James says to the camera “This week they’ll be cuddling and next week they’ll be making out because Kim is a woman and all she has to her advantage is her sexuality.”

The next morning finds us at the Koror camp. It’s raining. Again. The tribe doesn’t like it, and their shelter is leaking like a sieve. Tom says they need to improve their shelter and we are subjected to the ghastly image of Coby carrying bamboo in nothing but his Speedo. What did we ever do to them?

Katie starts giving her “expert” opinion to the others who are actually doing work. Caryn has enough of it and proceeds to give Katie the what for. Katie laughs off the encounter, seeming like she thinks Caryn was a little nuts. Caryn thinks that her little rant only accomplished putting herself on the chopping block

The tribes are called to Reward Challenge. Jeff explains that object of this challenge is to be the first person to swim out, grab a life ring, and touch your tribe’s pontoon while touching the life ring. You can do anything you want to stop the other person from winning short of punching them in the face or intentionally hurting them. The first round will be man versus man. The second round will be woman versus woman. After that, we will mix things up. The first team to score three points wins a sewing kit.

Round one, Jeff vs. Tom
Probst says go.
Jeff beats Tom, Ulong 1 Koror 0

Round two, Stephenie vs. Jennifer
Probst says go again.
Stephenie beats Jen, Ulong 2 Koror 0

Round Three, Bobby Jon/Angie vs. Gregg/Janu
Probst says go again.
Bobby Jon reaches ring, Angie dunks Janu, Angie dunks Gregg, Gregg dunks Bobby Jon, Angie dunks Gregg again, Angie dunks Gregg yet again (keep in mind that Janu has given up at this point). Bobby Jon touches pontoon. Ulong 3 Koror 0. Ulong wins reward.

Ulong is happy, and decides to take a break from the hot afternoon sun. Everyone that is except Bobby Jon, who works like the proverbial work horse. Catching fish, smacking coconuts out of trees, etc.etc. Bobby Jon says he likes doing things for people, but they’ll let you do everything if they can. Kim worries about her Bobby Jon, saying he works too hard and he is playing his cards to cement his place in the group but he’ll be of no use if he does this for two weeks and then crashes and burns. Guess that was her way of rationalizing not working herself.

Meanwhile over at Koror, Tom, Ian, and Gregg go hunting for food. After killing three sea snakes, (much to PETA’s horror!) they decide that instead of eating the snake meat themselves, they would redeem themselves in PETA’s eyes by feeding the small sharks instead. (Guess they weren’t that hungry after all.)

That night at Ulong, Jeff gets up to use the “little boys” room and trips over a coconut shell, badly twisting his ankle. He hopes if he elevates it at night it’ll be better in the morning. But morning comes and the ankle’s no better as Jeff hobbles around camp. And just when you think things couldn’t get worse, Bobby Jon arrives with Tree Mail calling them to Immunity Challenge.

After Probst learns what happened to Jeff’s ankle, he explains the Challenge. Each tribe member will be wearing a belt that is clipped to a common rope, so the tribes will move together. In addition they will each be given a bag that is filled with twenty pounds of sand. The tribes will start on opposite of an oval course (in the water), they will race, trying to touch the other tribe. The first tribe to touch a member of the other tribe wins immunity. Any player can opt out at any time, but must unclip him or herself from the rope and hand his or her bag to a teammate still in the challenge.

Probst says go and Jeff immediately quits the challenge, handing his bag to Bobby Jon. They then start dropping like flies. Caryn’s bag goes to Tom and Willard’s bag goes to Gregg. Then, Kim’s bags goes to Bobby Jon, Angie’s bag goes to James, while Katie’s bag goes to Ian. The teams are now tied four to four with Bobby Jon carrying 60 pounds, Tom, Gregg, James, and Ian, each carrying 40 pounds and Coby, Stephenie and Ibrehem each with their original 20 pounds. The race stays like this for a while until Coby gives up and gives his bag to Tom. James hands one of his bags to Ibrehem, but soon gives up and hands his other bag to bobby Jon, who now is carrying 80 pounds. Ulong is steadily slowing down while Tom coaxes his team to speed up in the shallow water. Eventually, Ian jumps and tags Ibrehem giving Koror the win, and the ugly idol.

Back at camp, Jeff decides to “take one for the team”, and asks the rest to vote him out at tribal council. Bobby Jon doesn’t want Jeff to go, saying that even at his weakest, he is still ten times stronger than Kim. The rest each give their little speeches to the camera but you just know that Jeff will get his wish and be sent hobbling into the sunset.

Sure enough, after the typical blah, blah, blah at Tribal Council, Probst calls for the vote, and Jeff gets his wish, with 4 of the seven votes, Jeff takes that long hobble of shame.

Now, for those of you who cannot or will not view the videos from the SeeBS website, here is a transcript of what each player said (at least as much is can be determined) while voting and Ashlee final words.

James (Votes Kim): Kim, you are lazy. You don't do anything. You let the fire almost go out today, you get out of the race today, early. You are not a helper, sorry.

Stephenie (Votes Jeff): Jeff, it's what you wanted, I am granting your wish, when anybody has to get out of this game, they're going because I'll never (unintelligible) out of this game. And even if Kim doesn't pull her weight, she'll be the next to go. Love you.

Ibrehem (Votes Jeff): We really do need you, but with your luck, you really can't contribute. I guess, I'll miss you, I wish you could be here because we really really do need you, alright.

Kim (Votes Jeff): You've become one of my greatest friends on this island, I am happy to get to know you, but this is what you wanted so this is what I am going to do.

Jeff (Votes James): James

Angie (Votes Jeff): You're not a martyr, this isn't for your ankle, it's for your bad attitude.

Bobby Jon (Votes Kim): Everything is fine, but tonight I am not going to play you and Jeff's silly ass game.

Jeff's Final Words

I don't regret tonight at all because it was my choice, and I know that by making that choice, my team is going to be able to advance further in this game.
I am already walking away from this experience with complete satisfaction that I've been on an island, I have survived, I've met incredible people, I've had a wonderful time, I don't regret a second of it. Just being in this beautiful place has completely changed my outlook on life. There is a huge part of me that wishes that I had not injured myself to the point of being unable to help my team advance in the game, but because it did, it tells me that it was my time to go anyways, and that's why I made the decision that I did.
The one thing that surprised me the most about being out here is how quickly you can make friends with people, who you are depending on to survive. Being here, I have learned a lot about myself, one of which, I can open up to other people faster than I thought I ever could. I didn't think it was possible that in 7 to 8 days, you could feel so attached to so many people.
Playing this game and getting injured has made me realize that anything can put you out of any game and you just have to enjoy everyday to the fullest because something like this can happen, that can bring you back, and put you a step back to the point where you are the slower one in the race.
I've learned through this game that nobody is invincible, even myself.
I never quit. I stepped out of this game, not only due to the fact that I knew my limitations and I knew that my ankle was not going to support me for much longer but mostly, because I want my team to advance in the game, and they all know it.
I understand that some people may misinterpret what I did tonight as quitting, I never quit, I'm trying to help out the tribe.
Ulong, it's time to take Koror to the cleaner.

Again, as a reminder, due to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (a.k.a March Madness), the 5th and 6th episodes of Survivor; Palau will be broadcast on Wednesday instead of Thursday. That’s the 16th and 23rd. Episode 7 will resume regular Thursday night broadcasts on March 31st. Set your VCRs and TIVOs accordingly.

Take care,

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up,
totally worn out,
and loudly proclaiming....
Wow, what a ride!"

Freepmail me if you want added to or removed from the Survivor Ping List.
