I wanted to get all of your takes on something that irked me. Some of you probably heard about the murder of heavy metal star "Dimebag" Darell Abbott (formerly of Pantera) and several other people by a fan at a club here in Columbus, Ohio, last month. Today, the Columbus Dispatch ran a large story about the killing. Their picture of the killer, Nathan Gale was of him in his Marin Corps uniform. Gale had been discharged from the Marines after serving less than two years of a four-year stint because of issues related to his weight, and, possibly, his paranoid schizophrenia. It really bothered me that they used the Marine uniform picture; I know it wasn't the only one they had, because they had used other pictures of Gale in civilian clothes in previous stories. It seems to me like a subtle dig at the USMC. Am I totally off base here, or can you see where I'm coming from?
I agree that they shouldn't have used a Marine photo, particularly since this psycho didn't cut it as a Marine for very long.
May be that Cowtown's main newspaper is a shill for the NYT.
They endorsed Bush last year and in 2000, but I've never been happy with their overall tone.
