NASCAR Free Republic Fantasy League - 2005

Posted on 01/13/2005 5:16:04 AM PST by steveegg

They're testing in Daytona, and Yahoo has opened the doors to the home of the Free Republic Fantasy League. As the 2004 champ (by a fender over WestCoastGal's JuniorsDreamTeam), one of my duties is to get the tires rolling, so I have.

You'll need a Yahoo ID (because they run it), then head here and sign up. The league ID is 1468, and the password is freepers.

4 down, 46 to go. Welcome to the machine (just remember, rookies won both years so far).

Well, you know Mark's engines are only good for 450 miles :-)

But Newman's gas tanks are good for 50 extra miles per race........

LOL. It'll be real interesting to see what the new post-qualifying impounding of the cars will do to that; you know he was changing carbs between qualifying and race day.

Can I say I'm annoyed that both good qualifiers are on the "A" list now? ;-)

Don't forget the off season thread.........I have all the current Daytona pics and test speeds posted.

Where are my manners??

Thank you steveegg for putting this league together for us!!

I know I look forward to racing even more with this league going (if that's possible)

Just think by losing by a quarter panel I can just sit back here and relax. ;-P

Welcome back )or welcome, as the case may be). As of now, 10 of 50 spots are filled, and it just turned 9 am where I'm sitting.

Yup! I dread the thought of one of our "old-timers" missing out on all the 'fun' in the league.

There were many 'lucky dogs' (Hi Bo, Hi Jack!) out there doing a great job last year, well, sometimes. ;)

You have a dog, steveegg? I used to as a kid, now it's all cats.

My cats couldn't pick a winner if I paid 'em to, unfortunately.

fnordish is in ... this year I vow to occasionally research the drivers and tracks, and periodically change my lineup :-)

Let me just say that I love NASCAR and would LOVE to do this, but I don't think I have knowledge enough to do it. Any advice on what I could do to be ready in time?

Do you have many women who do this?

Don't hate me, but I love Tony Stewart because I was fan since he was racing Indy cars. Been going to the 500 for about 15 years now and I'm only 36. Great tradition. Keep trying to get my husband to get us some NASCAR tickets. I think I would pee my pants if I actually got to see a race in person!

Did you start a team?

Here is a blurb about the new fan zone at Daytona. The fans like it but the drivers.........

On the other side of the coin, the drivers seemed to be less than thrilled with their new surroundings.

Dale Earnhardt Junior admitted yesterday that the new garage stalls with windows is somewhat unsettling.

"You kind of feel like a monkey at the zoo," says the defending Daytona 500 champion.

Hey kids!

I'd just started thinking about the league.

glad to see it up and building.

W W has re structured, brought in some of the worlds finest engineers, and built a brand new state of the art facility.

ready to rock for the title as Semi high Racing
