Yeah, if you want to wait until 2012 or so. LCD is out now.
I remember in the late 90's that LCD flat panels were supposed to be THE dominant screen technology in a couple of years. Instead it took until about 2004 for the technology and pricing to give it the edge it needed.
The pace of technology always goes forward, but almost never at the pace predicted by the people in the industry.
LCD manufacturers have too much invested in R&D and techonolgy to suddenly switch gears to nanotube screens anytime soon. Figure that some companies will start producing demo models in late 2006 or early 2007, ramp up manufacturing in 2008, and finally get the price down to mainstream levels 3-4 years later - if they ever get there. Because by that time LCD prices will be ridiculously cheap and the displays much better than they are today.
I have given up on waiting for new technology. There is always going to be something new and better coming out.
