Randy Johnson Tirade In Midtown
cbsnewyork.com ^ | 10 Jan 05

Randy Johnson is in town for his physical, but things got a little out of hand when a CBS 2 camera caught up with the future Yankee on the way to the doctor's office.

Monday morning, in midtown on Madison Avenue between 58th and 59th streets, CBS2 cameraman Vinny Everett shot some video of Johnson, a standard procedure with a big-name athlete coming to town.

The security representative with Johnson put his hand on our camera, and swiped it away. He and Johnson then both yelled at Everett, saying, "Don't get in my face.....don't talk back to me!"

I see this particular "curse" has affected the Yanks' crosstown rivals even morso.

Ah, that's right. The answer to my question above is the Mets.

"I see this particular 'curse' has affected the Yanks' crosstown rivals even morso."

Ahem...Have the Mets even gotten to .500 since Hitlery became NY Senator?

Now THAT'S a "curse."

Good question, and the answer is .....once, barely, in 2001 (82 - 80). Cursed to the core.

The Rangers and Islanders are playing like they're cursed too, come to think of it. And the Knicks? Been cursed since 1974. The Bills? Forever. Jets? They lose big next week.

Had the Mets actually gotten past .500?? (82-80. 2001)

Well I'll be...

Heck, the Isles have been "cursed" since what -- 1980? The Knicks since '73, and the Mets actually since '86.

I guess for the Knicks it WAS '74.

We BOTH know their last title was in '73 (I'll never forget it), but I decided to count from the following year.

The Isles won Cups from '80 - '83. Best team I ever saw. .....outside of the Oilers from the mid-80s, I suppose.

The Knicks still lead the Atlantic playing .500 ball, I see. Pathetic. When's the last time they had a white starter, btw? Kiki?

Yeah, it definitely appears that way.

However, I doubt that he's anywhere near the same league as Roger Clemens, as far as failed anger management is concerned.

Was Kiki ever a starter? I used to work with his sister -- she had some of THE wildest stories. ;D

He started in the '90-'91 season, playing 2420 minutes and averaging 16 pts/game. (Just looked it up)

....and that appears to be the only season he started for the 'Bockers.

THE wildest stories. ;D

Do tell ;)

I'll have to listen to it on the radio.

Still, it ought to be pretty cool, either way.

Nope -- don't want to be sued for slander or libel, although at least some of what I heard turned out to be true. ;D

Clemmons di not leave Boston or New York because of his anger management situation. IT WAS HIS WIFE. Both teams tired of her attacks on Tiffany, Fortunoff or whosever employees incurred her unjustified wrath...

This is going to be a fun year. The mad photographer with the Yankees, and the most manic ex-Red Sox since Clemens starting for the Mets.

I wasn't aware of that.

I do think that reneging on his promise to close out his career with the Yankees tarnished whatever reputation Clemons had tried to build, over the course of his career, as a professional.
