KOKKO This pyre is burned every year during Juhannus.
Dere Helga, a/k/a bentfeather reading at Juhannus, 2003. I often read my own poetry at this celebration. Finns celebrate Summer Solstice, longest day of the year. In Finland it is a huge celebration. Juhannus is the only day of the year where the Flag of Finland is not taken down-the sun does not set. This picture is one of me doing a take off on the Red Hat Society. The woman always wear a purple dress and a red hat designed by each member of the club. That is a red nylon duster in my hat! har har har.... dere Helga having fun!
