ABC; Kolber Must GO!
MrArbitrage

Posted on 01/08/2005 2:33:29 PM PST by MrArbitrage

Enough is enough. ABC/ESPN has forced football fans to listen to the talent less Suzy Kolber for long enough.. I have literally had to mute my TV as I’m watching the Seattle/St Louis playoff game - because I can’t stand to listen to this pretentious sounding women try her best to sound like the quintessential male sportscaster. I’m sure the sponsors don’t appreciate it when they pay millions of dollars to produce and air their commercials and people have their TV‘s muted because the network has to annoy the hell out of their viewers (I guess to make a quota).

This is not sexist. It took me a while to get used to females on the football field covering games but it doesn’t bother me in general. I have no problem with Bonnie Bernstein, Michelle Gurerra or Hannah Storm, because they are not annoying and they are “television material“.

The thing about Suzy is that she is annoying. Someone needs to say Suzy, you are a female; there is nothing wrong with that. Stop trying to be one of “the guys”. You didn’t play football with those pros on the air with you so stop your grunting. You didn’t earn the right to grunt. Perhaps I shouldn’t say she is talent less; she just isn’t right for her job. Maybe she would be a good Producer.

Whatever the case. Get her off of NFL football games and pre-game shows. If the strategy here is to attract more female viewers to the games, which I believe is indeed the strategy, I think it’s probably failing miserably on the women. I know the men are not appreciating her commentary. ABC, This is RIDICULOUS.

Too bad. I like Kolber. Anything is better than Lisa Guerrero.

"...the talent less Suzy Kolber..."

Are you stoned? Suzy is "talented" in many ways. Not to mention the fact that she actually played football. Semi-pro, granted, but Chris Berman never played football...

Given my druthers, though, I'd take Bonnie Bernstein in a heartbeat.

But life would be no fun without a Sideline Suzy for a drunken Joe-Willy-weaknees to drool on...

While we're at it those damned Christy Lane commercials that seem to play all day on Fox News Channel have been driving me nuts. I almost hurt myself getting to the remote so I can mute the TV when I hear one start running!

Well gee... If I judged every commentator on looks... nearly all of them would be off air...

Once they lose Kolber, they can axe Paul "RETIRE" McGuire.

You forgot to mention the unfunny comedy skits, tedios celebrity guest appearances and general idiot banter that infects every NFL pre and post-game broadcast. Apparently, football is not enough these days.

I liked Melissa Stark, too, she was very professional, smart, and nice to look at to boot.

I have a movie with her in it called "The Shaft" it's about a possessed elevator(actually it's run by a sentient AI computer) she played a news caster, pretty funny.

An hour is a long time to kill in TV, even with commercials.

I think the idea with Suzy Kolber is to get more women interested in football... just not the sort of women that would be interested in the men playing the game.
