Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind

One of my all time favorite movies. I still pile my mashed potatoes and say, "This means something..."

"Old yeller is a right of passage for men. Hunting, fishing, dogs, brothers, horses, etc."

Fortunately, its a right of passage about the age of 13. Thus, as adults, we are spared from having to watch Old Yeller again.

Yes, good scenery in those movies. LOL

IMO, Braveheart is neither chick nor guy movie. It has something for everyone. William Wallace does everything in that movie for love, love of his wife and of Scotland. The first time I saw that movie I was just weeping when I saw his wife walking through the crowd at the end.

Better then any movie on that list, this movie combines several classic themes, resulting in both the ultimate "Chick Flick" and a movie that many men can identify with.

Stongly suggest to those who have never seen this classic, to do so.

DodsworthA bittersweet tale of the increasing estrangement of a retired automobile tycoon and his wife. Increasingly obsessed with maintaining an appearance of youth, she falls in with a crowd of frivolous socialites during their "second honeymoon" European vacation. He, in turn, meets a woman who is everything she is not; self-assured, self-confident, and able to take care of herself.

Young Guns is a good one. I am sure that there are plenty that I forgot about, I could run down my rack of DVDs and come up with several more that I really like. Casino, Michael Collins, Animal House, Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles, The Hunt for Red October, I could go on....

You were doing well until Kill Bill, a movie which was able to be both excessively and continually violent while also being boring (a rare feat).

Glad to see 'BOTR Kwai" on the list.

Suggested adders: "Stalag 17", "the Great Escape", "Dirty Dozen"

I guess that leaves out Mrs. Tac's favorite tear-jerker - Robin Williams' What Dreams May Come.

That whole speech of his gets me, too - "My name is Maximus Dessimus Merdius...father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will have my vengeance...in this life of the next!"

Wooo...chills AND tears.

Dude, it was Directed by William Wyler, based on a novel by Sinclair Lewis. It is considered by many to be one of Wyler's best and most underated. Check it out and then come back to me.
