ping is like ringing a bell to get the attention of who is in the 'To:' position they can go to their pings (top right corner) and see what the sender wants them to read. It's a way of getting someone to a thread that you think will interest them.
'Ping Lists' are groups that have similar interests or are on a daily thread to shortcut the sender having to type in a large list of pingees.
bttt is 'bump to the top', also 'bump' and 'self bump' or 'bump for latter read'. This keeps the thread on the top of the thread list or with the later read, it puts in on your own ping list so you can find it and read it later.

I used to share an apartment with a Norwegian Forest Cat, and I have to say, they are the personification of the Viking Kitties.

Thank you. They are beautiful, but I don't think we'll be getting one. I'd rather admire long-haired cats from a distance :-).

All that fur could get caught up in my disc brakes.

After a while, I simply referred to mine as "carpet meat". He didn't seem to mind it.

I found this cat site completely by accident now I'm hypnotized . . .
Not only are they the most beautiful cats I have ever seen, but
I have never heard of cats that like snow! They're like Green Bay Packer cats!

I took Oliver (my former NFC) to work one day. A cow-irker who saw me haul this cat's massive, hairy carcass out of my car from across the parking lot yelled, "Oh, you got a dog!"
People who would visit me would see Oliver walk out of the back room and the first words out of their mouths were invariably, "DAMN that's a big cat!"

I joked with my wifr the other day, I was changing the a/c filter. I looked at it and called it the do it yourself, some assembly required cat kit. It had that much hair. ANd I change it every month to. My wife has openly wondered why they are not bald.
