Well considering anime DVD, including boxsets, have come down in price in the U.S. to the point where buying domestic is a pretty good deal. My problem is that Dreamworks has released an inferior quality DVD of a excellent movie.
Happens all the time, especially among foreign films (especially Hong Kong action films) although it happens to domestic films too.
There are sites that compare releases (video/audio transfer plus supplements). Sometimes letterboxing may even be set to different ratios.
I buy the copy of the film that I want. The marketplace will determine which releases are superior; the creators get paid all the same.
