Not to brag or anything:)...Harley, so far has worked equally well with or without. It's just that I always use them. I know the lady that rode him for the 30 days this summer did not use them, and she said he was fine. Even took jumps without the prodding of a spur.

I think I've gotten wary of people's opinions on my philosphy about horses:). In a nut shell, IMO, they are working animals, not pets. ANYTIME I have even a halter on one that is work time for them. I'm afraid (literally) to cut them slack, because I know my limitations. It's easier for me to keep problems from developing, then to fix one. Several times I've been told I was to rigid with them.

Mine are pets, with jobs... but I still am fairly rigid with pets ;~D
