LOL - that never ends. Seems Bob and I are always arguing about what kind of treatment is needed. He has the experience and the mechanics but sometimes I can just look at one of my babies and know there is a problem. Try explaining that to someone who deals only in logic.
If you have a horse with a chronic problem and you know what to do, doesn't make much sense to call the vet. I don't try to diagnose problems, I just fix the ones that I'm already familiar with.
Ace is also a good drug to have in your arsenal and you can put it in the muscle and it works just as well as in the vein. Takes a little longer to work, though.
