This pattern was what I was thinking was called a Sabino, but I may be wrong.

I've never heard of "sabino", but the description Duchess gave made me think of the horses whose markings have what almost looks like a dotted line outlining the spots..??? I've seen that before. It's not a real visible distinction, but it does happen.

You're wrong. :) It's an overo. Tuffy is what most people call a frame overo but if you get really technical, he's a cross between an overo and a sabino. Overo's typically don't have white legs and Tuffy does.
