well, he wasnt sure he needed to come out. My farrier trainer has never seen it before and thought it might be a good idea. He felt for the foal but we got tied up and he didnt say too much, he did think however that it would be any time.

Your description is tough to picture, and I was grasping at straws and taking a wild guess as to what, if anything unusual, might be happening. I can't see the mare, and neither can your vet... if you think her tummy looks like that, I'd encourage the vet to come out soon, rather than waiting.

There are steps to take if this is what's happening, and I would get him out today. Read through the answers on that link.... she may need assistance now and during delivery.

I'm the first in this group to call a vet, so no one will be surprised at my advice.
