I like the 'after' version. That's about what I had in mind. I do have a workshop to keep the tools in, but a place to park the tractor would be good, maybe a lean-to on the side.

Our horse's day shelter is actually a lean-to off the main barn which protects their stall openings from wind and rain also. As a loafing shed it's on the small side for three horses if they didn't get along really well.
