I wanted to ask you...what happened with the umbilical cord. Does it seperate from the placenta by its self or does the mare "cut" it?

As the mare lays down for delivery, it enables the umbilical cord to remain atttached, thus transferring the blood needed. When the foal tries to stand, normally the umbilical cord will rupture about 2 inches from the foals abdomen.
