He told us the horses all looked healthy, and said to make sure they didn't get ice on their heated water troughs. (The horse had gotten up shortly after the lady left to meet animal control.) She called us, and we were there when she returned with them.

I belonged to PETA for a short time, back in my peacenik days, until I realized they're a little fanatic. I was willing to give this lady a chance, but obviously not any more.

Ok, you mean she returned with animal control. I would have refused to let her on my property. I have always been a supporter of animals being treated humanely but they aren't humans and don't have rights. My son was a member for awhile and I used to get crazy stuff in the mail for him.
