I think I've told you this before, but the last baby I was waiting up for with a friend, we stayed out there all night on cots in the barn for four nights. She had the baby when we went in for breakfast and to make more coffee. I'd say we were gone 15 minutes ;~D
Another mare I know did have her first in the day time. They had boarded her at a nice facility for the birth. She was stalled all night and into the next day and really needed to stretch her legs and get out a little. They turned her out and she dropped out there to have it. They did go get her up and bring her in, by then it was too late for her to put them off.
I am just sure by the grin (and she does really grin!) that she will just wait until she knows I am busy and then have it! She is my favorite and talks to me a lot and when i was putting out her bedding yesterday she was just nuzzling as sweet as you can be to my neck and shoulder. If it was Misty or Lightning I would have been worried, but Sugar just likes to love!
As you could see from my posts yesterday, I was out there with coffee a lot and there was no way after all that coffee I was going to sleep anyhow!
We'll see what today/tonight brings........Just say a little prayer that everything goes smoothly please : )
This is a picture of the steps going down to one of the creek crossings. I've never seen steps like these on a horse trail anywhere else. They are at least 12 to 18 inches high each and the bottom one has been washed out some and is higher than that. You've always heard the old saying "Watch out for that last step coz it's a doosie", well, it really is here...
