I designed this barn years ago, when I first began seriously dreaming of leaving cubicle world and running a boarding stable. At the time, I was single and thought myself quite content to live and work in the barn. But even if I can't convince my husband of that life, the house could be temporary and would later make a nice stable office, or even an apartment for some young kid who wants to clean stalls in lieu of rent. :~D

I still really like the design of it. After visiting many boarding stables I like the individual tack rooms located at each stall a lot... it might be a big extra cost building at first construction, but it keeps the barn nice if every horse's blankets and tack boxes aren't cluttering the aisles. Each stall would have a run where they could come and go, and each divider between stalls could be removed for foaling. I picture the arena space with just rails around it so it looks open all the way across.

Any of you with boarding barn experience, please feel free to make ergonomic suggestions. Dream barns are still open for re-design!

I really like the individual tack areas. We are all in a room about 8x12. We have individual space but things get moved around. Another thing is that we have two tie poles. First come, first serve. After taken you tie in front of stalls. The walk way gets crowded sometimes. Lot's of lights too.

This is an impressive design. I'm going to think on it awhile and come back with questions.
