He does look like a Prince Plaudit horse doesn't he. Any time you get bored, you come on over to Nevada and we'll put you back to work :) We only show locally in open shows now. That horse did extremely well as a weanling in ApHC Shows but the Northern Nevada regional club is essentially inactive and we don't have the time or money to trailer to California.

His half sister is out of a Prince Plaudit bred mare and is currently bred to Jax O'Lena, a young stud here in our area. His sire was SnoJax who was Plaudit bred, dam is a Doc O'Lena quarter horse. Anyway, I'm hoping for an outstanding baby there.

I thought so. I really enjoy the shows where he goes through different aspects of evaluating a horse and shows you his methodology. It wasn't a very exciting show in that there weren't any mounted demonstrations. He just went through some of the little things he uses in evaluating a horse's intelligence and trainability.

If you are interested in learning more than how to ride a horse, you will enjoy it.

I liked the fence work and the circles. I am a dressage rider so I appreciated her instruction on getting your horse off the forehand and using the hind end correctly.

I have been lurking for awhile. Can't remember how I found the thread the first time though.

I have been riding dressage since 1996. I've been riding much longer than that, but discovered that "riding" and "dressage" are very different.

Sure is something how certain stallions 'look' stays in lines generation after generation.
Let me know what that Doc O'Lena bred baby looks like...and acts like, later.

That I will do. Momma can turn on a dime and herded goats for fun when she was a baby. I'm hoping the foal will inherit some of her abilities and all of her disposition. With the stud's breeding it should be outstanding, just as long as it's easy to live with :)

I have a neighbor that trains and rides cutting horses (his goal is to win at the Cow Palace) but he's into paints. I keep hoping I can work a deal with him in the future. The mare is small, only 15 hands, so my husband indulges me but refuses to get involved, he is definately a believer in the only horse worth anything is 16hh.

I've been riding for a long time. I started out in dressage, and did that for two years, and then did hunter jumper for a long time until recently when I went back to dressage. I should have just stayed with that discipline.

When I started back with dressage, I was thoroughly convinced that I had been taught how to ride incorrectly. I was mortified for quite a while until I realized that very same thing. Now I have things under a little more control :-) I think that Hair has done some dressage too.

I'm not up to much. Just got back from doing some grocery shopping. I've been working full time between semesters trying to earn some extra money to pay off next semester's tuition bill. Been writing some music to pass the time. I haven't been riding for three whole weeks and I'm starting to go insane. :-( The weather has been terrible, and then there was christmas and new years and then my trainer decided to go to Pennsylvania for the week. Darn her.
