Thread Four: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1332664/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Whatever she is, she looks like she drank some of the spiked coco:')
It's 60 in chicago? Are you kidding me?
I have snowballs too but they don't "splat" :')
Fine. :-) How does *whomp* sound? :-p
I really do like it. It has cut way down the amount of junk ending up on my computer that Spy Bot has to deal with.
One of my neighbors has one. He pulls a cart.
I certainly do feel safer. I've had some issues with it allowing and disallowing some programs, but I also have it on its highest setting, so that's something that I'm just going to have to deal with. I'm on a really cruddy network.
I went riding this past Saturday and took some pretty good pictures of my "home trails". I'll post 'em as soon as I get 'em off the camera.
Going back to catching up. Talk to ya'll soon. Beth
Welcome back! Always glad to hear you aren't dead!
Looking forward to trail pics!
Hello. Tuffydoodle suggested I come here to shelter myself from the lynch mob. It's bad enough that I get beseiged by two cows and a horse when I walk out the door. I do not know how to post pics. I don't know which pics I have on disc and on my desktop! I have tons of photos, but no scanner. An intro. I grew up on a ranch, actually a family member managed a boarding stable, so I exercised alot of the horses. I could ride an 18 hand Palomino before I could walk. But my 1st pony, a Welsh, always got the better of me. My uncle was a "cowboy" and I used to love to ride his rodeo horse Jimbob. The first time I was ever thrown was on Jimbob. My uncle told me to never say "wo" while galloping. So I did, and went flying about 8 feet in the air, landing on my bottom. I started riding in fun shows really young and only showed seriously at Del Mar and Silver Strand. Western Eq and Pleasure. At present I live on a ranch and have one horse, a Quarter/Palomino stud. He is the Great Grandson of two Futurity champions. His daddy was claimed off the track, and since my uncle couldn't afford to put him in training, he roped off of him and bred him. That's where my Sunny boy came from. It is unfortunate, but he doesn't get out on the trail much because he is a stud. I've tried that, and the first time he sniffed a mare, he tried to throw me. So we ride on 22 acres of private property. He is about 16 1/2 hands, HUGE and extremely powerful. Gentle giant, but if he gets his head down after a stint of non-exercise, lookout for head snapping. Right now he is enduring a windstorm. He is in love with a cow. If I were a liberal, I'd hire him a shrink. But he misses his buddy Baxter, who was sold to a ranch a year ago. That was a great horse. Part thoroughbred, a little rank, but the best trail horse I have ever ridden. Cheers, FOC
Have read now through your introduction... Have you thought of gelding your boy since he's limiting your ability to go on trail rides? It really would help his demeanor around other horses, at any age.
I used to have an Arab stallion, but he was a really easy one around other horses. He'd always been shown and was socialized that way. Still, I used to smear a little Vicks Vapor Rub in his nose at horse shows, it kept his concentration a little more focused if he couldn't smell anything but mentholatum ;~D
Welcome. I'm a happy camper when my horse has her head up too:')
If you have electronic pictures, we'd love to help show you how to get them posted. We love to see pictures around here!

(oops) reposting addressed to the right person!
Welcome back. Next time tell us you are leaving. That way when you get missed (and it will happen) no one worries.
I thought that thread was locked. I tried to post there too.
HA! Pictures please....
thread two got locked, but I think we forgot thread one. I requested it locked up now, don't know if they've got to it!
