Thread Four: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1332664/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
What the heck is a "hove"?
Ok well, I'm fixing to head out of here and give Sarah Lee her tetanus. My first timeeeee. Oh well, she's got a big neck.
I buy vet wrap everytime I'm at the tack or feed store. I use alot of it on horses and kids. My kids think it's cool to have a slight sprain and I wrap their legs in vet wrap. Makes them feel special.
If you can give a human a shot, you will have absolutely no trouble giving a horse a shot.
I use it on my neurotic dog who licks hot spots on her legs.
I love it - also works for sprained wrists and fingers :) You can always tell who has horses. Those who show up at work or the store with pristine gauze and/or cast don't, those with horses show up with purple or green vet wrap.
The stuff is more useful that duct tape.
Almost... If it were only less chewable.. Here we show the vet wrap covered in duct tape for neurotic dog.
Did you get some eyeglasses at the show?
Didn't go. It'll have to wait til next week. I haven't felt very good the last few days and I all I did today was sit home and chat.
I think it goes on for another week so I still have time to go. Monday is my only busy day next week.
Great minds think alike! Why does the dog need his leg taped up? You probably told me but I don't remember.
You use that for toilet paper, you better not have much hair back there.
She licks hot spots on her front legs when we do something horrid to her like leave her alone for the day. ;~D She's really neurotic.
If I can wrap them and get her to leave them alone for a few days till they start to heal up, they heal up, otherwise, she just keeps it up, like a nervous habit.
Bad visual, very bad visual. On that note, good night everyone and have a wonderful weekend.
You, too.
Well, I'll be darn.
I used to have a cat that would get mad at me when I left him for the day. He would pee on my clothes. He even peed in a dryer full of clothes when I left the dryer door open.
She actually learned this behavior from my late great Labrador Logan.... He'd do this when he was stressed... and I'd try to stop him with an Elizabethan collar... I'd catch her licking his hot spots when he couldn't.
On that note... We're going out... she'll hopefully cope with it well.
Almost time for a new thread ;~D
I'm looking at the cat's food he came with. It's purina ONE special care for adult cats. It says advanced hairball formula but nothing about urinary. This isn't what you were talking about, is it?
