Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

> A professor at Texas A&M was giving a lecture on the supernatural. To
get
a feel for his audience, he asks "How many people here believe in
ghosts?"
> > About 90 students raise their hands.
> > "Well, that's a good start. Out of those of you who believe in
ghosts,
do any of you think you've seen a ghost?"
> > About 40 students raise their hands. "That's really good. I'm really
glad you take this seriously. Has anyone here ever talked to a ghost?"
> > About 15 students raise their hands. Has anyone here ever touched a
ghost?"
> > 3 students raise their hands. That's fantastic. Now let me ask you
one
question further....Have any of you ever made love to a ghost?"
> > Way in the back, Bubba raises his hand. The professor takes off his
glasses, and says, "Son, all the years I've been giving this lecture; no
one has ever claimed to have made love to a ghost. You've got to come up
here and tell us about your experience."
> > The big redneck student replied with a nod and a grin, and began to
make
his way up to the podium. When he reached the front of the room, the
professor asks, "So, Bubba, tell us what it's like to have sex with a
ghost?"
> > Bubba replied, "Shiiiiit! From way back thar I thought you said,
"Goats!"
LOL.

Ok, let me make my list:
Poofy
Poofters
light in the loafers
Did I miss any? I love an educational day.
Oh that's disgusting!
The one about the ghosts is purdy funny! :~D
ROFLMAO! Again! Ya'll quit it! My cube-mates are gonna start to wonder what I'm doin' over here.
That one always cracked me up, too.
I hate to say "I gotta go" but "I gotta go." Time to pick the chillin's up.
Been fun this afternoon.
Yup.... fun time was had by all.... haven't got a durned thing done - but it's Friday, I didn't have much expectation.
Hubby and I are gonna go out later though... have some dinner and kick back a few cocoas...
Yeah the state is a nursing homes ACLU. Owners/Adm try to avoid problems. We have to post big 800 numbers. You would not believe some of the complaints and of course our government is going to spend 3 days investigating each one. This cat really bothering me . This is BS. He shouldn't be with me but with them. I know the administrator. I'm going to call next week and see if their psy people will evaluate if it would be ok or make things worse to bring him back for visits. I don't know why I get involved and put myself thru this stuff.
above post to you.
Snow is melting:)

I'd think visits would be better than nothing at all, but you're right to get the blessing of the powers-that-be. These days you'd better CYOA.
It's not that. I just don't want anyone upset when he leaves again.
Well, it was fun while it lasted ;~D
I was talking with the VA today at the clinic and he told me I need to be up to date on my tetanus too (which I am) because the bacteria is in horses urine and he looked at my tennis and said I should be wearing boots. Have yall ever heard of this? Human urine should be sterile. I would have though animals were too.
Not heard of this either. Strange!
Well, I think horse poo and urine is probably not good to touch or soak your feet in, but you won't get tetanus from it. e coli, more likely ;~D
Or were the boots to protect you from stepping on something and getting tetanus? I think the risk of tetanus is anywhere there are sharp rusty objects, not particularly associated with being around horses.
