Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Your site has just as good pictures - I browsed through it too.
She has the lightening strike and the belly splashing too.
:) Cool isn't it?
According to these folks definition, Tuffy is a sabino too doncha think?
Anyway, you can register her there.
Yes, I think so.
I can't. As for as I know right now she's a grade.
One of the things I found was that sabino's don't carry the gene for lethal white.
Well ya'll, it's been a fun and interesting evening, but I'm going to bed. Seeya tomorra!
*This page is grapic intensive, please be patient while loading*
It is the desire of the Sabino Horse Registry to make registration available to as many horses as possible within the classification of the pattern. To do this and give fair opportunity to horses of various type the Registry is divided into six separate divisions.
Each division shall have it's own specific qualifications which should make placement of any given horse a group of peers with which to compete. Each Division shall also have sections.
Section "A" shall be reserved for horses stemming from registered stock. Registered stock includes half bred horses with registration papers. Those horses currently registered with other breed registries.
Section "B" shall be reserved for horses who come from mixed parentage or unknown parentage. The Draft classifications will include both registered and non registered horses with sections for heavy draft and light draft. The Divisions shall not discriminate between "Tentative" registry and "Permanent" registry.
Those designations pertain more to the breeding aspect of the registry. Weight and size classifications for this registry may not follow guidelines set aside for other registries.
The Sabino Horse Registry International reserves the right and shall be solely responsible for classifying applicants to their respective Division and Section based upon information on application forms, submitted photo evidence, and breed type.
For competition purposes, horses within a division may show or compete against others of the same division without consideration for section with exception of championship shows in which case Division and Section breaks shall be maintained.
Winners of competitions or shows from each Section shall then have opportunity to compete against each other within their Division for the Championship title of Division Champion. The following list of Divisions and Sections shall be the official guideline for placement:
I guess this is why my trainer encourages me to breed her. Testing AAM's theory but she talks about that she thinks Sarah Lee would have "beautiful"foals with color. :')
Night :)
I saw that:')
Night
I think she would have colorful foals. Another thing I found on the appaloosaproject site is that they have identified hoof patterns that breed true to type vs those that do not. The amber hooves with thin striping breed true to type, the hooves with wide striping may not.
Huh. I guess she can be registered then. My grandson made a piggy bank out of my printer but I'm going to print this out at work and show it to my trainer who I bought her from tomorrow.
Let us know what she says.
Her stripes are the wide kind, right?
