Thread Four: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1332664/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
All paint owners have to do is buy a "Horses for dummies book like I did:')
He's a Haflinger, right?
I dont know why she disliked him so much. It was from the word go. She has never acted like that and didnt after he had gone.
We went and got an old halter quickly to put on her and held her steady. I also believe she has dropped. She has changed shape today from yesterday.
My trainer has just called to find out what the vet said and he was surprised he didnt do an internal. He was even more surprised that Sugar kicked and acted up, like i have said..she doesnt EVER do that!
"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure"
I think you posted that in the wrong thread. You might want to try the Nuke Irag thread.
Tell ecurbh that's my daughter Mandy on her palomino Winnie.
And thanks for doing that. I love it!
Mandy and Winnie. Can he post the last pic, the one on 4839 on thread 2? I like that one.
Fabulous.... so her behavior is personal against the vet.... well, even more reason to request the father if he's needed during this birth. More than likely Sugar knew he was both foreign to her and afraid of her, and she took advantage of that to get him to leave her alone.
Just got back from lunch, huh?
There is a really good joke on that "nuke I-raG" comment, but I don't want to gross anybody out.
I'll try to remember to take one of Belle, if you have the room for that many. I'll for sure get one if she's pregnant and I bring her home:), otherwise I may forget....you know me:)
Becky
Will do.... mind if we lighten it a bit? it's dark.
She has good taste, he sounds like a jerk.
We'll make room for every horse! Lots of ya have a bunch!
An Appaloosa mare that we had, had edema. It started between her front legs all the way back. After she foaled, the edema did go down. But, she did retain part of the placenta, and it caused an infection. She recovered, the edema didn't cause the retention, so don't be concerned that this will happen.
It was surprising. My trainer was as surprised too! She is so good natured and has only ever tried to kick him the once when he touched her udder the other day, other than that she is as sweet and eay going as a horse can be. She is great with the children too.
If i need a vet I think I will request the father.
Is it true that if you have a paint with 'ermine spots' on her, it's an indication that she carries the 'paint gene' herself, and will throw color?(no matter WHAT Daddy is?)
This is looking down at our place from the hill behind us.
Creek is full again
Our house from the trail that runs up the side of our pasture to the woods where I ride.
Hair, this is for you. This is looking thru raw land. Land that hasn't been cleared, stays pretty open of undergrowth.
And finally the new horse my son got this past weekend.
Becky
You can add moustaches for all I care. (I'm kidding, really, I'm kidding) Do whatever you need to do...
Yes, Tuffy, let's see you answer that one! :)
Not sure what time it is in your neck of the woods but its not lunch time yet here.
Rocky's stout. Quarter horse?
You got me on that one. I'll get my paint horse color genetics book out and see what I can find.
