Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Its 5pm here and 77! Thats why the kids are in shorts! The horses are loving it and looking very happy apart from Sugar who is just waddling :(
That's an amazing fluctuation from freezing to shorts weather in a week.
Any idea whether Sugar is getting close?
The orange balding cat went to the vet yesterday. He got a shot, and medicine to stop the itching. The vet was not sure if it was flea allergy (he doesn't have fleas), or a skin condition. He also gave me spray for the other cats, and dogs. They all hate me now..lol
He asked me where I got the Frontline, and I told him online through Petmeds. He told me that they sell the same meds at the office, for about the same price. I guess there is some counterfeit meds out there, that use the same packaging as the real thing. He said to check the labels.
I know! It is supposed to stay in the upper 70s and not below 47 at night for the next 10 days at least. It will probably hit the 80s tommorow!
I thought Sugar was begining to bag up a few days ago, but i must have been wrong. No sign yet, but she is soft at the rear. I am sure it wont be too long, it would be lovely if she gets this good weather. What with James' back out the barn is on hold!
How is his back? recovering?
Did you take any pics of the barn project as it sits?
We passed on giving Homer dog the shot today, he's been five days now since starting Advantage and he's scratching and licking less. Hopefully his hair on his butt will start coming back in.
its getting better...........we were making space behind the well house for a approx 1000sq ft barn that we already have on the other side of our property. We were going to disassemble it and put it back up ( with some alterations)where we need it as its not used right now.
Nice :)
everyone looks a little dorky in a knit cap... Dang the cold! ;~\
I don't think he looks dorky, very nice looking except 20 years too young from my vantage point :)
Was it today that the woman was supposed to turn up for her? dog?
Yeah - said she'd come by about 43 minutes ago. I really don't think it's her dog... the talk of hair dye was weird, and no dog should go where he'll be called that. We're hoping she is just a weird lady that makes phone calls about ads in the paper and won't show up at all.
But I am prepared to tell her that the dog's real owners showed up yesterday and picked him up.
I wasnt here when you posted that info, but reading back it just sounds too strange. Anyway, anybody that thinks its kinder to dye a dogs coat than her daughter is weird. Makes you wonder what else she would do. The dog looks lovely! Good play mate for your own?
Great play mate for her. He's a good play-er. My Gidget was really reluctant to play, she grew up with older dogs that didn't rough-house much and so she has always taken play attacks way too seriously, but they're playing great now.
thats great. Be careful if she does show up.......target practice like someone suggested sounds a good idea!
Well its first day back at school for the children tommorow so its early bath, get clothes ready for the morning and bedtime routine.
I'm glad I got the chance to post some photos, i took loads more, but havent had the chance yet to upload them.
I am just so glad that Adge seems to be taking the lead from Mom in being fairly comfortable around us, and also thanks once again for your advice with imprinting him. We touch him loads and he is getting more and more used to it and will come up to us.
ps. Red tail hawks are ready for the treat on the roof of the workshop, when Sugar has hers! LOL
Glad you are having so much fun with Adge! And really pleased he is doing well.
I just wish she'd show so I can get this over with... Tired of looking out the window.
Woo hoo, go Hair! You got pictures! :-)
Got a few! yeah!
I wonder if I had been taking the pictures if I'd have got him to smile ;~D
