Thread Four: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1332664/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Speaking of horse tv shows, doesn anybody remember Fury? I wonder why they never show those as reruns? Ten times better than Gilligan's Island, imo.
One good thing about all these weather reports - it makes me appreciate that our cold weather is not *too* bad and will be gone soon... Here in Ga. it was 13 F this AM - but should be up in 40's later today. Up into the 50's later in the week.....
We decided to take the colt - so I'll be asking lots of advice - I'm having to find someone to trailer him over since I don't own a trailer - plus - he's never been in a trailer so that should be fun!
I expect the guy at the barn where he was born - the one who found him and bottle fed him will bring him over - he is experienced and is thrilled that he is getting a good home. More later!!
I remember the show and remember watching it at times but nothing will compare to the great Mary Ann or Ginger debate that Gilligan's Island started.
I remember Fury slightly - can't remember any details - who was the main character - wasn't it a young boy and his dad - along with Fury of course>>>>
The boy was Joey, played by Bobby Diamond. Uncle Jim was who he lived with, played by Peter Graves. Pete was the ranch hand on their ranch, The Broken Wheel.
Exciting news about taking the colt... I hope he loads and rides easy and settles in at your place. Look forward to pics and updates!
Yeah, but there ain't no horses on Gilligan's Island.
Miss Targets: Thanks for the pics! Well, I survived the blizzard of 2004! We got about THREE FEET of snow, and hurricane force winds, with whiteout conditions. In my neighborhood, they didn't even bother to plow the streets. MA declared a state of emergency from yesterday into today. I don''t have any pictures yet because my digital camera ran out of batteries, but I'm going to be taking pictures with a disposable. We couldn't even open the kitchen door. Snow drifts are five feet high or more once everything is plowed, and snow almost completely covered the cars.
Wow.... yeah - I gam glad you aren't frozen and look forward to the pictures.
That's not true! One episode had a horse washing up in the lagoon. The professor was going to build a walking ring and use the horse to generate enough power to send a SOS signal but Gilligan, as usual, screwed up, broke the horse's leg and they had to put him down.
What? That sounds like a horrible episode! You're pulling our leg....
First, Rocky laying in the sun
My barn front and back:
I went to get the mail and took a picture of our house from the road.
Then decided that all that grass along the road needed to be burned. I love fire:)
Finished product.
Now I'm off to see a new horse my son got this weekend. I'll get pictures.
Becky
ROTFL! I can't believe you just torched that grass. That would freak me out!

Is there wire on those T posts there so your horses are in that space? I love that big rock...
I'm always burning something. I burn out there about every other year. It really makes the grass come back green and thicker.
Yeah that pen is all fake hot wire. I only put horses out there when I'm home. That's where Rusty was when I took that neat picture of him last year, but he was up by the house side.
Becky
~shaking head~ You love that big rock....
Becky
Love the barn - that is really nice for multiple use.
You couldn't get me to light a fire to stay warm :) I can't believe you had the nerves to handle that.
Waiting for pictures of the new horse.
