The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

Posted on 12/30/2004 7:01:16 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We are watching stand up comedy this week for some reason. We are watching someone right now on HBO. Funny stuff until he started talking about "right wingers" and then Hey Now!:')

They calmed down before tripping breaker I think, but Cyn was still a little fruity going back in her stall. Something freaked them out that they remember, even if it's gone. I just don't have any real reason to believe it's related to the electrical. Was it just coincidence?

It could have been, or they may have heard/felt a hum from a bad circuit (or maybe smelled a toasted rat? : )

There isn't any smoldering... if there was any hint of smoldering or heat, I would have the fire dept here and an electrician, and I wouldn't be letting the horses near it.
Of course, I don't doubt that. :-) Ignore my mumbling. It was more of an "if" that's all.

Give House MD a shot. It's on Fox, Tuesday nights at nine EST. However, it was replaced tonight by a two hour American Idol special. I love That 70s Show.

I love the BBC. Yes I have seen the Vicar of Dibley, but I'm also always scanning for Monty Python reruns.

Keep in mind, also that the BBC channel that I get also shows a lot of older British programs. I really enjoy British humor, although sometimes I just don't understand it. :-)

Something just came on the news about a dozen horses that burned to death in Houston. Something about a heater in the barn for chicks??? Sad, huh?

I'll give it a shot, but I think that I'm too far south. Northen Maine might see it though. We very rarely get auroras, sadly.

It was all about Mexico. Tourists in Mexico, someone drowning coming across, businesses leaving, even a truck, trailer and tractor that was stolen in Oklahoma and stopped at the border and I'm thinking anything happening in the U.S. and then this came on. They should have brought the chicks in.

Just standing around with her back end to the workshop..........She needs to have it soon, cause i need to stop drinking so much coffee and get some sleep! LOL
Sad news about those horses. Why did they have chicks in a barn? We have a special brooder.........and a lightbulb for heat!

Our chicken house is away from the horses, but they get out and annoy the horses for food, cleaning up all the scraps and waste.......I like having them though.

Don't know . They didn't waste much time on it and went right back to Mexico issues:')

We kept chickens in our "shed" with a cow and pigs. We hatched them eslewhere though.

talking about farms, I was so irritaed today. I finally got in touch with the agent that had 10 acre tracts for sell. I was told they were all sold. I told her that she still had a for sell sign up. She said she knew but evidently they had been sold for awhile. It was a complete waste of our time except that I saw another piece I'm checking on. As a courtesy they could take the sign down though.

You know, and the sad thing is that they've probably gone to developers.
