Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I give him a hard time because he says he's got old trucks everywhere... I said he ought to stop calling them trucks if they don't move... they're planters!
That's my biggest gripe about the aggressive helmet promotors. It wasn't till that old man in spandex:), hollered at me to put on a helmet when I was riding a bike that I'd had enough:)
I'm afraid it will come to mandatory helmets using public bike trails, streets, and sidewalks. The goverment should not interfer in those decisions. IMO:)

All of the farms around here seem to have ancient trucks buried under trash or weeds. I think when they quit the owners just go and get another one and leave the old one for the dog to shelter underneath!
I love the part about the lil old lady that says she used to carry mace but now "I carry this" and pulls out an arcing tazer.

I tried to count the truck tractors I have today. Just remembered that I have three more that I had forgotten about......
I was in Montana many years ago and almost every farm had old cars, trucks and farm equipment parked out behind the barns. Now those old vehicles are showing up on ebay.

Same around here. My FIL seem to be of the same school. There's at least 5 old non functioning cars sitting around in various places in his back "yard" and 3 or 4 more out in the old chicken house, along with every discarded appliance, they've ever owned. I love him to death, but it would drive me crazy. My poor MIL just has to live with it.
He looks like he's paying attention to you. He's such a nice looking horse.
We miss you out on those trails too. One of these days I'm gonna smack you proper for selling all your horses! ;o)
