Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
ecurbh is on a borrowed QH mare, before we had Cyn. This was his first trail ride.
Only ride things that go clip clop, clip clop.... ;~D
Going 100 mph on a motorcycle would get my blood pumping so fast I'd have a heart attack.
Well, good to have you here. Would you like to be put on the morning ping list to this thread.

I did ride a guy's big dirt bike once. He told me what to do, I headed off down the trail, and when I came to the first bend, I tried to turn and it went straight. I finally bailed off it, it went about 10 feet and hit a tree. ;~D
I love the sound of a Harley. In fact mine is louder then Macks. I had him put straight pipes on it to make it louder. Love going under underpasses and reving the engine.

When you get thrown off a horse what do ya do?
You get back on and try again. :)

I'm not big on doing 100...I have done about 90 tho:).
Mack fusses a bit sometime because he says I go to slow, I don't keep up with him. One time I told him, I wanted to lead so I didn't feel so pressured to go fast. We were going down an expressway, I was really enjoying not having any pressure, thought I was within the speed limit, my speedometer doesn't work. Mack pulled up by me laughing and said, look at my speedometer. I was doing 90.
Becky
I'll just watch for now... ;~D
Well, don't feel bad. My bike is actually for sale. I've never really gotten comfortable on them, and like riding with Mack better then riding my own. We got a Gold Wing a few years ago, and that is a blast.
I actaully feel safer on a horse.
As far as the speed goes, I can go fast. I just like to build to fast slowly, on horses and bikes, that's my problem with runnin barrels. YOu have to be full out in 2 strides. Keeping up with Mack is like that, you have to be full throttle in 10 feet.

ACCCCKKKKK - Saying on a card on my desk at work "Don't live faster than your guardian angel can fly"
Brrrr... it looks really cold there!
OOHHHH....that looks bad. I hate winter. But today it's suppose to reach 70 here.
Becky
Good saying:) Our guardian angels are probably tired, and hate seeing us get on the bikes. But they have sure done a good job for us.
Thank you Lord:)
Becky
Have I mentioned I hate winter :)
I worry so much about bike riders. There are a lot here and they are so vulnerable it seems. People in cars seem to think they can stop on a dime. I've watched some dummies tailgate a bike, for heaven's sake. How the guys on the bikes keep their cool I don't know.
Anybody that tailgates me on a bike won't do it again. I slow down and give them the one finger wave. :)
