Wow! How do you remember all that? I remember paying .75¢ for a pack of cigarettes.I'm 45 years old, so it wasn't that long ago. My first pack of cigarettes was 55¢. My first gallon of gas cost 33¢. My first gallon of milk was $1.00, and my first apartment was $125 a month, utilities paid. But the minimum wage was only $2.90.

When I was a little kid, candy bars were 5¢ and a bottle of Coke -- yes, a real glass bottle from a vending machine -- was 10¢. I could make a quarter last most of the afternoon.
