I thought Start > all progs > accessories = a dos command prompt?

That's one way to do it. Typing "cmd" into the Run dialogue box gets you there, too.

When I go through the dos prompt on windows, it posts the following message:

"Format cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to force a dismount?"

When I press yes, it says: "Cannot lock the drive, the volume is still in use."

When I access the BIOS it won't let me change the settings to boot from CD.
