I've had some run-ins with a few of these trans atlantic "allies" before. Several of them call themselves 'Redcoats' by way of redressing supposed slurs on their nationality by any means both childish and petulant. The part I am having trouble understanding is the part about hanging around a board they have nothing but contempt for. Any resposes from the old country would be considered mighty white by this dumb yank...

I don't think you read the embedded link in the original post of this thread. I'm a big fan of the Brits too, but the folks that you sent your post to are not our "allies". If you read their message board, they are clearly on FreeRepublic to poke fun at Americans in general, Freepers specifically, and especially Jim Robinson (whom they call Virgil). Unfortunately, you can only go back a few days on their board, and they've cleaned things up considerably since it was highlighted on this thread. But some of their comments from there have been posted to this thread already. Read post #11 for example. There were several similar comments on their board. Several of them have been banned repeatedly, and make of game of seeing how long they can survive before getting banned again.

It is all part of life on an internet site, but just don't confuse them as being supporters of this country or especially this site.

And I am actually very pro-British. I lived in downtown London while growing up and have flown and fought with the RAF countless times in the last 15 years. Some of the most entertaining moments of my life have occurred while hanging out with British fighter pilots. And my experience living in the UK and serving with the members of your military gives me full confidence that you are not representative of the "allies" I've had the privilege of working with.

Of course you have every right to hang out at FreeRepublic and piss on the carpet. But don't expect folks like me to ignore that fact, or let anyone who might be unaware assume you represent the more positive elements of British culture.
