2004 -- It was a year of catching up on a number of series books.
And it was probably the most books I've read in a long time (even if 12 of them were Lemony Snicket)
- The Return of the King, J. R. R. Tolkien
- The Broken Blade, Ann Marston
- The Bad Beginning, Lemony Snicket
- The Reptile Room, Lemony Snicket
- The Wide Window, Lemony Snicket
- The Miserable Mill, Lemony Snicket
- The Austere Academy, Lemony Snicket
- Cloudbearer's Shadow, Ann Marston
- Rogue Pirate, John Gregory Betancourt
- The King of Shadows, Ann Marston
- The Ersatz Elevator, Lemony Snicket
- The Vile Village, Lemony Snicket
- The Hostile Hospital, Lemony Snicket
- The Carniverous Carnerval, Lemony Snicket
- Let Freedom Ring, Sean Hannity
- Maybe (Maybe Not), Robert Fulgrum
- The Slippery Slope, Lemony Snicket
- The Unauthorized Autobiography of Lemony Snicket
- Eats, Shoots, & Leaves, Lynne Truss
- Tom Clancy's Net Force: Night Moves
- Tom Clancy's Net Force: Breaking Point
- The Kingdom of Infinite Numbers: A Field Guide, Bryan Bunch
- X-Files: Whirlwind, (does it matter who it's by?)
- Tom Clancy's Net Force: Point of Impact
- The Grim Grotto, Lemony Snicket
- Tom Clancy's Net Force: Cybernation (in this one, the title actually had something to do with the story)
- Vulcan!, Kathleen Sky
- Stars & Stripes Forever, Harry Harrison
- Stars & Stripes In Peril, Harry Harrison
- Stars & Stripes Triumphant, Harry Harrison
Also
Graphic Novels: (I don't normally get to read these, but I found a stack at the local library and went through them!)
- Batman: Terror (good)
- Tales of the Slayers (very good, it was worth picking rather than the Buffy books)
- Batman: Child of Dreams (pretty good, but pretty long)
- Spiderman: The Death of Gwen Stacey (excellent -- even for reprints)
- Spyboy/Young Justice (ick)
- Batman: The Arrow, the Ring & the Bat (good story, but the splash pages were annoying)
TOPICS: Books/Literature
KEYWORDS: biography; books; fantasy; fiction; nonfiction; readinglist; scifi; series; unfortunate

At the beach, I read
Da Vinci Code,
Deception Point,
Angels and Deamons,
Tuesdays with Morrie, and another that I can't recall (it was fiction, about AQ smuggling in a nuke, the CIA, and politics).
Of the above, Angels and Deamons was the best read.
I recently finished Rule of Four, and it was a struggle to get through it. Not worth the time.
I just started The Godfather Returns.

No. I'm still HTML challenged. Once I learn how to do pictures, I'll be in the mix. You can take it if you want to.
I'll take my whipping now. :) I am working on HTML.

Currently reading THE CASE FOR A CREATOR by Lee Strobel. It's value is in how he chose to write the book -- each chapter is the result of an interview with a scientist from a different discipline who is emminently qualified to discuss the current doubts their discipline is throwing on traditional Darwinism.

Lemony Snicket is the pen name of a man who writes books for children named 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'. I think up to this point there may be around eleven of them. They just compiled the first three into a movie starring Jim Carrey. My oldest daughter loves them.

Bullish on Bush by Stephen Moore
In a spirited and compelling fashion, Bullish on Bush sets the record straight on the stunning success of President Bush's tax cut policies. It also provides the first comprehensive analysis of George W. Bush's bold second term economic agenda to create a broad-based Ownership Society in America and explains how Bush's tax relief policies have helped the economy grow, reversed the collapse in the stock market, and put America back to work. This book will make you Bullish on Bush, and Bullish on America!

Currently reading the "Da Vinci Code". A real page turner. I will however follow up with the book that debunks the misinformation here. It must be read for pure enjoyment, not for taking anything lasting away from it. Read "Angels and Deamons" if you like Da Vinci Code. Same author, same lead character (Langdon), less anti-Catholic, and better story in my opinion. Even more of a page turner.

I reread Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis recently.
Written as radio addresses during WWII in London, it still is excellent discussion of a logically analysis of why God must exist.

I see what the trouble is. Your attention span is too long. You need to watch more television or listen to a liberal sermon.

I feel a little ashamed that I don't read more non-fiction...

Any book by HARRY HARRISON is great.
My favorite is the series starting with "The Hammer and The Cross".
For book worms, What does my tag line mean?

Would be interested to know if they were ever made into film.Yes. Release date, Dec. '05. View the trailer for "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". The producer is using Peter Jackson's props and special effects company. Filming is complete. Now comes the editing and effects.

i was at the liberal public library and ran across the following, it's good for a laugh:
howard dean, winning back america, simon $ schuster, 2003.
it's written in the "see dick and jane jump style".
here's a choice paragraph:
"my wife has a great career, and she is very good at what she does. she's going to be a great doctor whether i make it to the white house or not. there are going to be a lot of people in america, particularly women, who applaud her. but there will be some who don't. i hope they respect her decision."
a leftwing "intellectual". (/s)

Well, there is always an empty chair next to Hillary or Jesse. that usually cures long attention spans. Of course the side effects are devastating.
