It's getting to be a turn-off and I don't recall it being this bad a year ago.
I think it will die down after a couple of months. The forum tends to get a lot of traffic during and immediately after an election. I lurked here for years (I found FR back in 2000 and decided to register/post back in 2002. I have seem a migration much like going to the gym right after the first of the year.
I agree, also. Some possibly very interesting threads crashed and burned once the troll hunters stumbled in. Still, you learn to pass the shrill ones by, sometimes answer in kind, and sometimes practice your poetic memory, which in my case does require a lot of practice.
Mock on, mock on, Voltaire, Rousseau,
Mock on, mock on; 'tis all in vain;
You throw the sand against the wind
And the wind blows it back again.And every sand becomes a gem
Reflected in the beams divine;
Blown back, they blind the mocking eyes,
But still in Israel's paths they shine.
Not quite what William Blake had in mind when he penned The Scoffers, but it'll do.
Fortunately, there's still a heck of a lot of gold to be found around here!
It doesn't matter how 'politely' you say it or what your point is, "our interests in Iraq be damned" is fightin' words!
I agree, and will forevermore keep a lower profile. Debating is fun, personal attacks are not.
