But I'm sure, as numerous posters will soon attest, that he was probaly a "big ol' teddy bear" that wouldn't harm anyone. At least until he tried to maul a child.
People are stupid.

Dog was out in the street when he bit child who was entering the house - makes no sense but then neither does owning and probably training dogs to be vicious.

I run in my neighborhood and there are many dogs which are friendly as can be. There is one that comes out and menaces me (2 times so far, one more and I take action). and the idiot homeowners don't even rebuke the dog, they just try to get it on a leash and take it inside. The other day, it came out to the road and threatened me and I told the lady to get control of it because if it bit me, it would suffer irreparable damage and her insurance company would be unhappy with them. Her response was that the training wasn't finished yet and it was great around the local kids, it was only mean around me. Of course, she looked disgusted when I told her I cared not a whit about this tripe, what I really cared about was being menaced on public property because they couldn't control their animal.
I have owned pets for most of my 52 years and have a hard time understanding the mindset of those who think their pets are more important than people. Hopefully I won't have to get bitten and to break their dog in front of them.
