Local health officials hope to soon receive the results of a rabies test on a dog killed by police after it bit a 4-year-old girl in Fairmont on Christmas Day.
The girl and her family, who live in Florida, were attempting to visit friends at a home on Washington Street at about 10 a.m. when she was bitten, Fairmont police Chief Steve Cain said.
"The dog got loose from its owners and went out in the road and bit the little girl as they were trying to go inside the residence," Cain said.
The child was taken to a Morgantown hospital for treatment and later released. Cain chose not to release the name of the hospital for privacy purposes and not to release the identity of the girl because she is a juvenile.
The dog, a rottweiler mix, was uncontrollable, Cain said. It was shot with the owner's assistance.
"It had to be destroyed because officers and the owners couldn't quarantine the dog safely," he said.
To check whether it had rabies, local health officials had the animal's head cut off and shipped to a state laboratory in Charleston.
"The procedure is routine anytime you don't know for sure if (a pet) has been vaccinated," Cain said. "Hopefully we will know something tomorrow."
Of course, since the earth is contaminated with tens of millions of the beasts from Hell, conventional methods of killing will not do. We must build Auschwitz-type camps with enormous crematoria in every state of the union and throughout the world.
They can then be exterminated en masse and their evil carcasses burned to ashes.
Only then will our fair planet be free of the curse of the devilish canine.
Gee, that's what my wife always says.
Lisa, is that you?
Would it be caled "Mein Hund", My Dog?
Wow, I didn't know that. I still never see any stories about them, though. Also, there is a big difference between getting snapped by a dog and getting mauled by a dog.
I have been bitten dogs a few times. Tickling my girlfriend in front of the family Shepard was not a good idea. Then all she did was snap my hand. She didn't try to kill me.
I agree... huge difference between a snap and a mauling.
I think they already have dog pounds in just about every county of every state in the union.
While recently visiting the in-laws, their two cockers repeatedly tried to bite my kids. My kids have grown up with dogs and have never done anything provocative around one. I can't stand cockers. By the second day of the visit I wouldn't let the kids anywhere near them.
I am a dog lover, but if any dog attacks a human (unprovoked)...it must be killed.
But what of the owners? Do they have any culpability?
Yes, but I don't think they should be killed....well maybe a few...to send a warning. hehehhe
Like I said before, I think that if a dog actually kills someone, the owner should be tried for at least manslaughter, if not murder.
